Connect with professionals and community experts who will be joining us at the Conquer MG Fall Resource Fair in Springfield. Our experts bring experience in healthcare, mental health, assistive technology, wellness, and patient support.
Lora Roberts, ADN
Nursing & Patient Support
Lora Roberts earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Illinois Central College in 1985. Over the course of her career, she has worked in intensive care, emergency departments, and pediatric and geriatric settings.
For the past 20 years, Lora has specialized in home health and infusion therapy, providing skilled and compassionate care to patients in their homes. Her decades of experience reflect her commitment to nursing and patient well-being.
Jennifer A. Long-Leckrone, LCSW
Springfield Clinic Providers | Behavioral & Mental Health
Jennifer Long-Leckrone is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Springfield Clinic Main Campus East, where she provides direct therapy to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Before joining Springfield Clinic, Jennifer worked as a school social worker for more than 25 years. Her approach incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, as well as play therapy when working with children.
Jennifer earned her Master of Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health and completed postgraduate studies in School Social Work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Child, Family and Community Services from the University of Illinois Springfield.
Bruce Marshall, M.D.
Transfusion Medicine & Therapeutic Plasma Exchange
Dr. Bruce A. Marshall is board certified in Clinical Pathology and Transfusion Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, completed his residency in Clinical Pathology at Ohio State University, and completed a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking at Ohio State University.
Dr. Marshall performs therapeutic plasma exchange at HSHS St. John’s Hospital and Springfield Memorial Hospital. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where he teaches fellows, residents, medical students, and nursing students.
He has more than 35 years of experience in transfusion medicine and therapeutic apheresis.
Karen Horath, LMT
Massage Therapy & Wellness
More than 10 years ago, Karen Horath changed career paths with a goal of helping people feel better without adding more medications to their lives.
Today, Karen is a licensed massage therapist who focuses on helping clients find an approach to massage that feels comfortable and works for their individual needs.
Anna Miller, OTR/L, ATP
Illinois Assistive Technology Program | Assistive Technology & Occupational Therapy
Anna Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Murray State University and a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Tennessee State University in 2012.
She has worked across a variety of healthcare settings, including acute hospital care, long-term sub-acute care, and home health, before moving into pediatric therapy. Her professional training includes DIRFloortime certification and Level 1 STAR mentorship.
Anna currently works in assistive technology across the lifespan with the Illinois Assistive Technology Program. She is a Certified Assistive Technology Practitioner and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist and is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Dr. Akhil Shivaprasad
Neurologist | SIU School of Medicine | Neuromuscular Care
Dr. Akhil Shivaprasad is a neuromuscular physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nerve and muscle disorders. She is experienced in performing electrodiagnostic testing, including electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies.
Dr. Shivaprasad earned her medical degree in India, completed residency training at Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas, and pursued fellowship training at Duke University in North Carolina.
Her clinical interests include myasthenia gravis, motor neuron disorders, peripheral neuropathies, myositis, and muscular dystrophies.
