Patient Assistance Program offered for IL, IN & WI

Good news!

If you are a myasthenia gravis patient struggling with high medical costs, our Patient Assistance Program may be able to provide some relief. Our program will cover the cost of medical treatment and medication up to $1,000 per year per person, to the extent funds are available. The program paid over $15,000 in reimbursements in 2018, and is now accepting applications for 2019.

  • To be eligible, 1) your doctor must confirm you have myasthenia gravis, 2) you must live in Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin, and 3) you need to explain and show proof of your financial situation.
  • Eligible expenses include doctor bills, prescription medication costs, and expenses for durable medical equipment that remain after insurance has paid its portion.
  • If you already have paid your portion of your medical bills, you can submit your expenses, and if approved, the reimbursement will be paid directly to you.

Click here for a complete description of the program.

Click here for a copy of the application.

Keep in mind these costs do not need to be directly related to treatment for myasthenia gravis but may be for any medical treatment or prescription drug cost you have incurred.

FALL SEMINAR

My MG Journey – Speaker Sara Hasemeyer

Better Breathing through Technology – Speaker Sally O’Meara, RN

Pictured: Conquer MG Chair Bob Rosecrans, Sally O’Meara, RN, Executive Director Joan Wincentsen, Sarah Hasemeyer

On November 4, 45 myasthenia gravis patients and friends attended Conquer MG’s Fall Patient Seminar at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Sally O’Meara, RN, carefully explained the features and mask options for assistive breathing devices such as Bi-PAPs and home ventilators, and which work best for MG.

Some attendees were surprised to learn C-PAP machines (for sleep apnea) are not designed to help with the breathing weakness experienced by myasthenia gravis patients.

Thank you to our speakers, Sally O’Meara and Sara Hasemeyer. See their presentations on the Conquer MG YouTube channel.
